IODE King Edward VIII - New Waterford NS

In January 1936 fourteen women met in New Waterford to form a new IODE Chapter. Later that month following the death of King George V and Edward, Prince of Whales, was proclaimed King Edward VIII the members felt it was a fitting tribute to the new King. In December of the same year there was shock and disappointment when the new king abdicated to marry a commoner. Through the years it was suggested that the name of the chapter be changed but they stayed loyal to their original choice.
