IODE Dr. Caroline Carmichael - New Glasgow NS
Dr. Caroline Carmichael Chapter was organized in 1952 in New Glasgow. The Chapter was named after a very prominent woman, Dr. Caroline Carmichael of New Glasgow. Dr. Carmichael was the daughter of Senator J.W. Carmichael and descendant of a well-known pioneer ship building family. Dr. Carmichael was deeply interested in the Council of Women and served as National President. She received a degree of Doctor of Laws from Dalhousie University in honour of her many philanthropic political and social activities.
