IODE Annie G. Murray Memorial Scholarship
In 1986 following the death of Miss. Annie G. Murray of Springhill, the last surviving charter member of the Nova Scotia Provincial Chapter, it was voted that a scholarship fund be set up in her name to be presented annually to a second year student at the Nova Scotia Teachers College. In addition to Provincial Funds monies were received from the late Miss Murray’s family, and later a bequeath from her sister. With the close of the Teachers College in 1997, the Scholarship was transferred to Acadia University from where Miss Murray had graduated.
Miss Murray was a dedicated teacher and loved English. She was a loyal IODE member and was involved in many community activities. She graduated from Acadia University In the early 1900's and was Valedictorian for her graduating class.

The selection of the candidate is made by Acadia University.

- enrolled in the second year of the Bachelor of Education program at Acadia University.
- maintaining a good academic record.
- in need of financial assistance.
- involved in extra-curricular activities.
- a person who would contribute to the quality of life of those around them - to exemplify the life of Miss Murray.
This scholarship is awarded annually in the amount of $1,200.
The selection of the candidate is made by Acadia University.
Winner of the 2022-2023 Annie G. Murray Memorial Scholarship
A wonderful luncheon was held at Acadia University for IODE members to meet and get to know our 2020-2023 winner Kathryn Green. Kathryn is a wonderful young woman that would like to stay in Nova Scotia and teach Social Studies in a High School.
